Mallory’s Story
How it All Began
My interest in this project began about two months ago when my friend and fellow Senate Page, Kyle, asked us to participate in a project of his own. He asked us to use our experience as Senate Pages to help develop ideas that could promote Federalism in the Constitution of South Sudan. While working on the project I remembered a couple of books I had read in eighth and ninth grade, “A Long Walk to Water” and “A Long Way Gone: Memories of a Boy Soldier.” I was inspired a while back to make a difference in South Sudan, but I did not have the resources that could help me start.
Working with Kyle allowed me to get both experience and resources that could make this project possible. However, I knew that I could not do this alone. Phoebe was also working on Kyle’s project and willingly agreed to help start! We have gone to the drawing board and back again many times and I am so excited to see every bit of progress we make! This will be a journey, and we hope you will stick around with us to our destination: an equal access to education, a full representation of females in various fields throughout South Sudan and the growth of a community that will ensure girls have the ability to reach their fullest potential.
